Aegis Productions Ltd was created in 2005 out of a mentoring relationship between Athena Stevens and members of the Royal Shakespeare Company who were artists in residence at Davidson College. From this collaboration it became apparent that two things were lacking in the performing arts community. First, there is a need for gritty, vibrant and independent theatre on both sides of the Atlantic. Second, there is a lack of applicable and challenging dramatic arts training which make use of modern resources and techniques while maintaining classical standards of excellence.

Aegis Productions was set up to fulfill both of these needs.

In 2006 Aegis established its permanent home in London while working with artists such as Dominic Cooke, Ché Walker, and Barbara Houseman. In 2009 Aegis opened its educational program working with instructor Anna-Helena McLean and Sadler’s Wells Dance Theatre. Aegis Productions seeks to consistently strengthen ties between practicing professionals and aspiring new thespians. To this end, our list of available classes is ever evolving.

In September 2011 Aegis Productions will be taking over a theater in Covent Garden for The Amazing Vancetti Sisters, Aegis’ first full scale premier production, a new play written by Artistic Director Athena Stevens. This promises to be the first of many productions headed by Aegis which tests the limits of imagination.

We hope that through and along with Aegis Productions you are inspired to do the same.
